It was a quiet Saturday morning after a hectic week of doctor appts, dentist appts and busy work schedules. We wanted to do something special and fun with the kids but keep it somewhat simple and inexpensive.
I had been wanting to scope out San Juan Capistrano for some upcoming photo shoots and so I threw it out there to my husband that we drive down for the day. He had much better idea however, and suggested we take the Amtrak train down instead...YES!!!
We were of like a rocket, grabbing jackets, packing snacks and my camera gear rushing around to make the next departure train from Anaheim to SJC. We made it by a hair and the trip was totally worth the stress to get there on time!
Needless to say, the kids had a ball and so did my husband and I. We will be doing this again for sure.
With so much to do (Los Rios District, a fantastic play area, petting zoo, horse trails, the mission San Juan Cap (which we did not visit this time) it a historical part of California you should not miss. And with many stops along LA, OC and San Diego, you should take the trip via Amtrak also (and book let's schedule a photo shoot with your family to document the trip)!
